Keeping Our Schools Safe from Gun Violence
 Sunday, September 19, 4:00-5:00 PM
 Zoom Webinar
 RSVP by September 17th

During this event, we'll hear from Rob Wilcox, the author of the Everytown for Gun Safety’s comprehensive report on school safety. Rob is also the chair of MCCPTA’s School Climate and Safety Committee.

The webinar will also feature information on a nationwide program called BeSMART (https://besmartforkids.org/), which is a framework designed to help parents and adults normalize conversations about gun safety and take responsible actions that can prevent child gun deaths and injuries. Be SMART materials had previously been approved by MCPS for distribution to elementary schools right before COVID shuttered schools.

Also on the panel is Chief Deputy Maxwell Uy of the Montgomery County Sheriff's office who will be discussing a case study of MD's Extreme Risk Protective Order (ERPO) which allows law enforcement and family members to request the removal of weapons from the home in cases where people are "in crisis" and may be at risk of harming themselves and/or others.

RSVP by September 17th
The event will be held via Zoom webinar and you will receive a link prior to the meeting. Please note you must RSVP by September 17th in order to receive the Zoom link.
