What’s changing. Starting in 2027–28, MCPS high schools are grouped into six regions, each hosting 15 or more specialized Center programs across five themes: Medical Science; International Baccalaureate, Humanities & Languages; STEM; Leadership & Public Service; and Visual & Performing Arts.
Every student is still assigned a home high school. Centers are separate — admission runs in two application rounds, with limited central stop transportation.
