Reflections Arts Contest — Entries Due December 4

The PTSA is sponsoring the National PTA Reflections program at Frost this year. It’s a student arts contest that’s been running since 1969. Students create an original piece around a yearly theme, and entries are judged at Frost first, then move on to the county, state, and national levels.

This year’s theme is “What My Culture Means to Me.”

Students can enter in six categories, and they can enter more than one:

  • Visual arts
  • Photography
  • Literature
  • Music composition
  • Film production
  • Dance choreography

No experience needed, and the work can be made at home — it doesn’t have to be a school project.

A few rules worth knowing up front. Every entry needs a title and a short artist statement, 10 to 100 words, explaining how the piece connects to the theme. There’s also a required “Additional Details” field, 10 to 50 words, describing any technology or software used, including anything AI-generated. Entries must be the student’s own work, with no adult help, no collaboration, and no copyrighted material — that includes cartoon characters and downloaded music. Music entries also need notation as a PDF.

Entries are due Friday, December 4 to rfmsptsaboard@gmail.com. We’ll send the entry form and full guidelines to anyone who wants to enter.
